Primary and Secondary Admission Information September 2022
You are now able to apply for a primary school place in County Durham for your child for September 2022
Children born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 will be eligible to start in reception year.
Applications will close on Friday 15 January 2022.
Please note - a late application, i.e. after 15 January 2022, greatly reduces your chances of getting into your preferred school.
The offer of a school place will be made 0n 19 April 2022
An application form is also available to download for those are unable to access the online form.
As in previous years, we are strongly encouraging parents/carers to apply on-line for a school place for their child, especially given the current situation with COVID-19 and changes to working practices.
All the information parents/carers need to be able to do this is available from the Council’s website from 6 September 2021: www.durham.gov.uk/schooladmissions
The Primary and Secondary School Admission Guide advises those parents/carers who do not apply on-line for a school place to send their paper application forms to School Admissions. It also advises they may want to return it by ‘Royal Mail Signed for’ or ‘Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed’ as in the event of non-receipt, proof of delivery will be required. It is even more important given the current situation with COVID-19 and changes to working practices that proof of delivery will be required.
If your child (current Year 6) is due to transfer to Secondary School in September 2022, Parents and Carers can make their application for Secondary School online by visiting www.durham.gov.uk/schooladmissions and the School Admissions online application facility will be available to parents/carers from Monday the 6th of September 2021.
The Closing Date for Secondary School Applications is the 31st October 2021.
If parents/carers do not wish to apply online they can complete a paper application form, these are available to print from the school admission website (same website address as above) from Monday the 6th September 2021.
Alternatively these application forms can be requested by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone from the School Admissions and Transport Team on 03000 265896.
Copies of the Parent’s guide “Primary and Secondary School Admissions in County Durham 2022/2023” are also available from the school admissions website or on request from Monday the 6th September 2021.
Please note that if you have any Year 6 pupils who live in another Local Authority but attend your school, the parent/carer should contact their Home Local Authority (i.e. the authority to which they pay their council tax) to request an application form, even if the parent/carer would like to apply for a Secondary School in County Durham.
If parents/carers have any questions relating to any of the above please contact School Admissions via telephone on 03000 265892 or by
e-mail to email@example.com
