Our Lady and St Joseph's Brooms RCVA Primary School, Leadgate

We Learn, We Love, We Grow in Jesus' Name

Fr Michael Keoghan

Fr Michael Keoghan was the beating heart of Brooms Parish and School for so many years.

His presence, care, compassion, kindness and gentle nature has been a huge part of all our lives.

Fr Keoghan spent many a happy visit popping into school, celebrating Masses and attending Governors meetings.

We have so many happy memories of his visits including celebrating his 80th birthday. The stained glass window in the porch, which was dedicated for his 80th birthday, is a constant reminder to us of a very special man.

We also remember fondly learning his favourite hymn ‘Lady of Knock’ and the surprise on his face when the children and staff sang it at his birthday Mass in school.

Fr Keoghan had an excellent sense of humour and always made us smile and laugh whenever we were in his company.

Since Fr Keoghan’s retirement we have missed his many visits, however we have still kept in touch and would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sisters and Staff at St Mary’s Convent for taking such good care of someone who is so special to us.

He will be a huge miss to all who knew him, Rest in Peace Fr Keoghan
