Welcome to Class 1.
Our Teacher this year is Mrs Jarvis. Our teaching assistant is Miss Hopper
Every Wednesday afternoon Mrs Jarvis has PPA time and Ms Hopper will lead the class that afternoon.
There are 19 children in our class, 10 are in reception and 9 are in Year 1.
Wednesday is our PE day. Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on this day.
Reading books will be given out on Fridays and should be returned to school on the following Monday to allow for books to be quarantined for the correct amount of time.
Here is our key learning for the final part of the Summer Term:
English- we will begin by looking at poetry the move on to using the book 'Paper Dolls' by Julia Donaldson to help us explore narrative writing, describing words , using ! and ? and adding 'ed' and 'ing' to verbs.
Maths- we will look at fractions, shape, position and direction and measures (including time, money. length/height, weight and capacity)
In RE, our topics are Friends (Reception) and Being (Y1)
All children will take part in Read Write Inc activities everyday , practicing reading and then writing letter sounds.
Reception and Year 1 children will have access to continuous provision indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
In Science we will explore seasonal changes, learning all about summer; the weather, what clothes we need to wear , what we might see and how animals cope in summer. We will also continue our topic of plants; observing how our sunflowers and vegetables are growing as well as identifying plants and trees growing in the local area.
In PE, one of our lessons will be taught by an external coach.
Foundation subjects- We have lots of exciting DT planned where we will be looking closely at fruit and vegetables and designing, making and evaluating our own fruit salad. In Art, we will be making our own 'Angels of the North' using a variety of joining techniques and then using papier-mache and paint to finish them. Music will carried out in accordance with the most recent risk assessments, any singing will take place outside and we will even be making our own instrument. In computing, we will be focusing on using Bee-bots.
It will be a busy but exciting half term- we even have some special visitors arriving on Tuesday 8th June - pictures to follow!
Remote Learning in Class 1
In the event of the need to isolate because of Covid-19, remote learning for Class 1 will take place on Tapestry . Each day there will be 4 tasks uploaded; a pre-recorded phonics lesson, a maths input and task, an English task and then a task relating to other curriculum areas.
I have also added an 'Additional Activities' sheet for both Reception and Year 1. This is bank of activities that you can chose from for daily practice in English and Maths. You can find them below as well as in the 'Documents' section of Tapestry.
It is vitally important that we have daily contact with each child, Tapestry is a quick and easy way to do this, uploading pictures and videos of your child's work as well as comments. If you are unable to do this, a quick email or telephone call to let me know how the day's learning has gone will be fine.
