Welcome to Class 1.

Every Thursday afternoon Mrs Jarvis has PPA time and Ms Hopper and Mrs Williamson will lead the class that afternoon.
There are 26 children in our class, 6 are in reception , 10 are in Year 1 and 10 are in Year 2.
Thursday is our PE day. Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on this day.
Reading books will be given out on Fridays and should be returned to school by Tuesday please.
You can find detailed information about our learning under the 'Curriculum' section in 'Long Term Planning'.
Here is a quick overview for our key learning in the first part of the Autumn term:
English- we will begin by reading 'The Enormous Crocodile' by Roald Dahl to help us celebrate Roald Dahl day on Monday 13th September. We will then focus on traditional tales.
Our Author in Focus is Tom Percival.
Maths- we will look at place value and addition and subtraction.
In RE, our topics are Myself(Reception) , Families (Y1) and Beginnings (Y2)
All children will take part in Read Write Inc activities everyday , practicing reading and then writing letter sounds.
Reception and Year 1 children will have access to continuous provision indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Y2 will continue to have some access to our indoor and outdoor areas, completing focused 'challenges'.
In Science we will explore seasonal changes, learning all about Autumn; the weather, what clothes we need to wear , what we might see and how animals cope in Autumn. We will also begin our topic 'Animals including humans' (Y2) where we will notice that animals, including humans, have offspring which grow into adults , find out about and describe the basic needs of animals, including humans, for survival (water, food and air) and describe the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of each type of food.
In PE, one of our lessons will be taught by an external coach and we will be focusing on games in the other session.
Foundation subjects- In Art, we will be learning about printing and looking at the artist Richard Long for inspriration. Music will carried out in accordance with the most recent risk assessments and we will exploring music and singing using Charanga. In computing, we will be focusing on coding. Our history topic for this half term will be 'Fantastic Firsts' and we will continue to use our Life to the Full scheme to deliver Relationship and Health Education (more information can be found in the Long Term Planning section).
Remote Learning in Class 1
In the event of the need to isolate because of Covid-19, remote learning for Class 1 will take place on Tapestry . Each day there will be 4 tasks uploaded; a pre-recorded phonics lesson, a maths input and task, an English task and then a task relating to other curriculum areas.
I have also added an 'Additional Activities' sheet for both Reception and Year 1. This is bank of activities that you can chose from for daily practice in English and Maths. You can find them below as well as in the 'Documents' section of Tapestry.
It is vitally important that we have daily contact with each child, Tapestry is a quick and easy way to do this, uploading pictures and videos of your child's work as well as comments. If you are unable to do this, a quick email or telephone call to let me know how the day's learning has gone will be fine.
