Home Learning

The work that has been provided is to be used in a way that suits your family. We appreciate every family is different and that some children

will be able to do most of the work, whereas some will manage a small amount. (We have included about two weeks worth) This is not meant to add any stress or anxiety to the children or parents. It is work that the children would normally follow at school so hopefully the format will be familiar.

There is no expectation of timetable, amount of time spent on school work, or amount of work completed. This is to be managed by families in a way that works for you and fits in with everything else that has to be done.
This is a challenging time for all of us, we need to be kind to ourselves and each other.
Any questions, please ask.

Remember if you are able to take photographs, upload them to Tapestry and add a commentary, I can see it and suggest next steps.

***Home Learning Week Beginning 23rd March***

Hi Everyone! Hope you have had a restful weekend. Understandably, our priority is ensuring the health and wellbeing of our children.  The suggestions I am posting on this page are just that, suggestions, as to how your child’s learning can be continued at home if you so choose. These are trying times and the most important thing is to ensure we are all okay. Learning can be more formalised again when this is all over.

This week, the plan was:

Maths- to learn about 2D and 3D shapes. We need to know the names and be able to describe a circle, triangle, square ,rectangle, oval, pentagon, hexagon and octagon and then sphere, cube, cuboid, pyramid and triangular prism. When we talk about them we need to be able to say how many sides they have and whether the sides are straight or curved (2D) and how many faces and vertices (corners) they have as well as what shape the faces are, if they are 3D. Here are some suggestions to support this, if you so choose. A range of activities that could be done/talked about Some video clips and songs about shape

Look out for the task on Purple Mash!

There will be daily Phonics sessions delivered by Read Write Inc available on Youtube if you would like your child to watch and take part, follow the link below:

My understanding is that lessons will be streamed live at certain times and will not be available at any other time:

Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30am and again at 12.20pm  (YR)

Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00am and again at 1.00pm (YR + Mrs Jarvis and Mrs Nichol's Group)

Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30am and again at 1.30pm  (All groups excluding YR)

After reading and enjoying ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ we were going to learn more about real tigers and write some information about them. If you would like to do this; here are some places to look for information. Perhaps you could record what you found out in your homework books? Main aim is to practise writing sentences independently in the context of writing facts about tigers.

Read, Read, Read!

Read as often as you can. While children didn’t bring home reading books, you can access online books by registering at

If your child’s reading record was in school on Friday, we wrote in which Book Band your child is currently working on so you can access the correct level.

Do as much or as little as you are able to  of these suggestions. These are exceptional circumstances for us all!

Keep safe

School Closure

With the announcement on Wednesday that all schools in England were to close at home time on Friday to all but children of key workers, we are trying our best to get everything set up for home learning. Your child has today brought home a letter with a list of usernames and log ins for some useful websites that we use in school.  Please, if you are planning on using them during school closure, check your log ins tonight and let me know if there are any problems so I can try to sort them.

Many thanks for your support at this difficult time!

Purple Mash

I will use Purple Mash to set individual tasks for children. These will appear as notifications on your child's account. Other than these tasks, your child can also use any other parts of Purple Mash to support their learning.

Home Learning

During this difficult time, it is important that we try to  keep things as 'normal' as possible for our children. With  this in mind, if your family are in self-isolation or in the event that Schools are ordered to close, I will post ideas/websites on this page every week linked to the learning that had already been planned. The tasks/ suggestions are to try to keep some consistency for  the children in terms of their learning, to the best of our ability in the challenging circumstances.

Look after yourselves!

For Parents of Reception children, you can use your online Tapestry account to take photographs/videos of any learning/activities that your child does and include a brief summary of what they did. Once they are uploaded, I can see and comment on them suggesting individual next steps and ideas for further activities that are suited to your child and their interests and needs. This two way dialogue can be ongoing throughout their time away from school.

Free e-books

There are a wide range of free online books available at the website below, you simply need to register to access them.
