Mini Vinnies

What are Mini Vinnies?

The Society of St Vincent de Paul has been engaging with young people and education since its earliest days. Mini Vinnies are children aged between 7-11 (or younger) who, with permission of their parents and the support of their schools, are encouraged to embark on their first steps as possible “Vincentians for Life” as Mini Vinnies, the youngsters have their own treasured prayer, pledge and badge which guide them in their formative steps – helping and enabling them to becomes in every sense, Mini Vinnies!

Mini Vinnies at Our Lady and St Joseph’s

We have just begun this wonderful group in our school in November 2022.

Mrs Jarvis leads the group with support from Mrs Nichol. We sent application forms home to children in Years 2-6. The children had to apply for their place and we have been very impressed with the applications. We will be holding a commissioning ceremony after Christmas and feel proud to have Mini Vinnies as part of our school life. The children will be presented with certificates and badges to recognise their commitment to help others both locally and globally.

We pray together each week and meet to discuss ways we can help other people. We have helped sort out donations for the Reverse Advent Calendar as well as organising Christmas Cards to be made for people in our local Care Homes.

We will update this page regularly to tell you about all the wonderful things we do.

On his visit to the UK in 2010 he met with young people and blessed the national youth emblem, a candle stand. Rest in Peace, […]
