From Tuesday 5 September 2023, you will be able to apply for a primary school place in County Durham for your child for September 2024.
Will your chid turn 5 between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025?
If so, you will need to complete an application online and state which school you would like your child to attend from September 2024.
Visit www.durham.gov.uk/primaryschoolplaces where you can access a useful guide to help with your application. The easiest way to apply is online. If you are unable to apply online, paper application forms are available on request.
You will still need to apply even if your child attends the nursery unit attached to the school, or already has a sibling at the school. You will also need to apply for a place in Year 3 in a junior school for an older child.
Please note – a late application, i.e. after 15 January 2024, greatly reduces your chances of getting into your preferred school.
The offer of a school place will be made in April 2024.
As in previous years, we are strongly encouraging parents/carers to apply on-line for a school place for their child.

Closing Date for Secondary School Applications is 31 October 2023.
If parents/carers do not wish to apply online they can complete a paper application form, these are available to print from the school admission website (same website address as above).
Alternatively these application forms can be requested by e-mail to or by telephone from the School Admissions and Transport Team.
You will be offered a school place for your child, via email on 1 March 2024.
Please note: If you have any Year 6 pupils who live in another Local Authority but attend your school, the parent/carer should contact their Home Local Authority (i.e. the authority to which they pay their council tax) to request an application form, even if the parent/carer would like to apply for a Secondary School in County Durham.
Mrs Cruise was fortunate enough to get these special items blessed by His Holiness Pope Francis on her recent visit to Rome. She kindly gifted a set of blessed rosary beads to each child. What a special gift for our children and an amazing experience for Mrs Cruise
